Grace has been with me the longest. When I got her from the shelter, she was at least six months old and had been waiting over a month to be adopted. Although she was all over me and very affectionate at the shelter, when I got her home she hid for three days. I finally had to dig her out from under a shelf she had magically gotten under and gently persuade her that she was home and among friends. To this day she is the most likely one to occupy my empty lap and the last one to warm up to visitors.
When I first saw Grace, I thought she was beautiful. I had never had a gray tabby like her and I was fascinated by the patterns and different shades of her fur. Even after years with her, I still feel a little awe struck sometimes.
